Well I got busy and made another for dd2.  Ds now wants a Christmas Rabbit!  Watch this space......

Christmas Angel

Dinner is in the oven, yummy lasagne so thought I would just post this quickly.  Unfortunately lasagne just isn't good enough as my youngest is singing/sobbing I want pancakes for dinner, this has been going on for 15 minutes now, and I am trying to put my deaf ears on!

Last night I attended the Parwich ladies sewing club, a group of us meet for a natter and a sew every other Monday during the winter months and at the moment we are making Christmassy things.  It was so lovely to get out as I have been stuck in the house for the last three weeks recuperating from a nasty operation, yesterday was my first day out of the house and of course I over did it somewhat.  It was such a lovely evening though and a real laugh, I took all my felt decorations to show them and a couple of the ladies are now making them too.  I had started this wool felt Christmas Angel a couple of days ago and took it to finish it off.  I now have to make another as both dds want one, plus need to sort out the wings!  Still, it was fun to make so I shall start another tonight while dh is out at band practice and won't be able to complain about my sewing lamp reflecting in the tv!

Wall Hangings

I made these small patchwork wall hangings as Christmas presents using fabric that an interior designer friend very kindly gave me.

I've got loads more so will probably do a few similar projects. I made them using my new sewing machine, a PFAFF Expression 2.0, my early Christmas present - it is wonderful!

Christmas Wall Hanging

This is one of my projects for Christmas 2009. A Nancy Halvorsen design, quilted and embellished with seed beads.

Quillow

My next project was to make a quillow which I completed September 2009.

I really like checks and ginghams so incorporated them using log cabin. The quilt top was done on the machine and it is hand quilted.

Looking at it now it looks very Christmassy so I will have it out on display this year.

Crewel and Unusual

At the Aug 2008 Festival of Quilts I bought a kit from Fay Maxwell called Crewel and Unusual.

I finally got round to making it June 2009.

The design is my own, taken from the headboard in our bedroom, but using the techniques shown in Fay's book. It uses wool felt heavily embroidered and appliquéd to a silk background which is then hand quilted using Kantha technique.

Audrey's Quilt

I started this quilt in June 2009 for my youngest daughter using a jelly roll, it is lovely and bright and she loves it, although it has now been confiscated until she stops wetting her bed!

The quilt is hand quilted with hearts over the blocks and flowers around the edge.

Play Mat

This is just a quick play mat made from a charm pack I had bought a few years ago - nothing fancy.

Sampler Quilt

In September 2008 I started a block a month workshop so I could learn some quilting skills. This is the resulting sampler quilt. I was intending to use it as a lap quilt but after using such expensive Japanese fabric it is now displayed as a wall hanging. I just couldn't bear the thought of the children destroying it!

I love the colours and textures of the fabric and was so pleased with the end result.

The quilt uses lots of different techniques; applique, paper piecing etc done by both hand and machine.

The quilt is hand quilted, although not as heavily as the cot quilt.

My First Quilt

I started this cot quilt 9 years ago when I was pregnant with my son, it sat unfinished for seven years. Once the children had grown up a bit I decided I really wanted to start quilting properly, so I finished it off.

The sashing was done on the machine but everything else was done by hand.

The hand quilting was quite intricate and took forever!!
